Over 25 years of diverse musical experience
A pianist, full-time music teacher, and mechanical engineering graduate, Carlo Santos obtained the Associate (ARCT) and Licentiate (LRCM) Diplomas of Piano Performance with First Class Honours with Distinction from the Royal Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary.
In 2020, he was awarded the National Gold Medal from the Royal Conservatory of Music for his Licentiate Performance, receiving the highest mark across Canada that year.
He specializes in teaching piano, music theory, music history, exam preparation, and performance coaching in his private studio in Signal Hill (Southwest Calgary).
In demand as an adjudicator and coach, he has worked with students at festivals and camps across the province since 2018, including the United Music League, Athabasca Music Festival, Alberta Piano Teachers’ Association Piano, and CASSA Music Arts.
Carlo’s teaching philosophy is about cultivating passion and proficiency in music.
“When an individual creates and plays music that personally resonates with him or her, I hope that person may develop an appreciation for beauty,
patience towards practice, diligent dedication to a craft, and a love for a language that is universal to us all.”

“My daughter Saige started piano lessons with Carlo when she was eight years old and has advanced to level 5 piano pieces and level 8 technique after studying with him for only one and a half years. Carlo consistently encourages her to push her abilities so that she can expand her potential and grow.
Carlo’s studio has lots of opportunities to perform on stage in recitals, concerts, and piano camps. Saige performed in her first recital after only six months of starting lessons and performed in ten events within one year. I’m glad I found a teacher as passionate, friendly, and knowledgeable as Carlo.”
